Jim, though he loves working in jewelry, had always wanted to make a larger piece in mokume. In 1998 Jim had the perfect opportunity.
In April 1998 the National Ornamental Metals Museum in Memphis, TN presented an exhibit, "Knock on Wood: An American Mokume Invitational". Jim was one of twenty invited artists showing work in mokume gane at this exhibit. This teapot was made for this exhibit.
The teapot measures approximately 6" by 7". The teapot is in mokume of copper, brass and sterling silver and is lined in sterling silver.
This teapot was also included in the book, "Teapots Transformed - Exploration of an Object" by Leslie Ferrin.
This teapot is now in a private collection.
Jim would be happy to design a teapot for someone's collection!
