Diamonds or gemstones are placed in a metal channel that either totally surrounds the band or can be just placed in part of the band.  This is used with smaller stones and offers the best protection for the stones.  Channel settings are often used as eternity rings or anniversary rings.

We can use platinum, 18K yellow gold, 18K palladium white gold, 14K palladium white gold, 14K red gold or palladium 950 for the inset channel.
