Return to Stone Setting Styles

Prong settings is one of the most popular settings for diamonds, especially for engagement rings.  More of the diamond is exposed which beautifully shows off the diamond but is less secure than many other setting styles.  Most often 4-prongs and 6-prongs are used as well as "multi-prongs".  For larger stones we highly recommend using at least six prongs.  You can use this style for a variety of stone shapes.

For both color and security we recommend using platinum for prong settings, though other metal can and have been used.
