Like most good stories, David’s journey to JBMA starts with a girl. David was born and raised in New Zealand. He had been a practicing jeweler before he met Elizabeth (living in Bellingham Washington!) through the Internet. After convincing her to come visit, they fell in love! Elizabeth made the permanent move to New Zealand soon after.
After 9 years together with a marriage and the birth of their twins under their belt they made a big decision. David and Beth decided to come back to her childhood home of Bellingham. With their twins (and one baby still in the oven) and their plethora of pets, they made the migration to the US in April 2015.
David’s move to Bellingham coincided with an opening in the JBMA studio. June 1, 2015 David joined Jim and Terry at JBMA as a bench jeweler in the studio. 4 months later his wife and newborn baby, Olivia, joined Terry in the office (until March 2020). David brings with him over 20 years of experience in the jewelry industry and a longtime love of mokume.
He is learning the joys of living in the Pacific NW including seasons totally upside down! He enjoyed his first snowfall but didn’t enjoy his first drive to work on icy roads. Just a few things to get used to!
